Eastleigh vs Wrexham Preview

Eastleigh vs Wrexham (H) – 7:45pm KICK OFF ( Tuesday 3rd December 2019)

At the Silverlake Stadium tonight Eastleigh will host Wrexham FC who are sat at the bottom of the National League, with Eastleigh sitting 13th. Tonight it will be Eastleigh’s third consecutive home game in the league, which they will be looking for a second home win to lighten the mood from Saturday’s FA Cup draw. An 86th minute equaliser by Marcus Barnes saw Eastleigh scrape a replay against League Two side Crewe Alexander and has booked The Spitfires a place in the third round of the FA Cup, this will be the clubs third time in their history.

At the moment Eastleigh are sitting 13th in the National League, and are currently five points away from the play-offs as well as having two games in hand compared to the other teams around them in the league. Eastleigh have been handed an injury boost from the weekend against Crewe, which fans saw Michael Green return after recovery from his ankle injury and sees Ben Strevens injury list start to reduce. With the draw at the weekend it saw The Spitfires unbeaten in their last 15 games and sees Eastleigh only loose one game in November.

Eastleigh’s Last 5 games

* Eastleigh vs Stourbridge (FA Cup) – 1-1 (Replay) – (Draw) * Eastleigh vs Stourbridge (FA Cup) – 3-0 (Win) * Eastleigh vs Halifax (League) – 1-1 – (Draw) * Eastleigh vs Torquay (League) – 3-2 – (Win) * Eastleigh vs Crewe (FA Cup) – 1-1 – (Draw)

Wrexham’s Last 5 games

* Wrexham vs Rangers U21 (Scottish Challenge Cup) – 0-2 – (Lost) * Wrexham vs Rochdale (FA Cup) – 0-1 – (Lost) * Wrexham vs Yeovil Town (League) – 3-3 – (Draw) * Wrexham vs Flyde (League) – 0-1 – (Lost) * Wrexham vs Ebbsfleet United (League) – 1-2 – (Lost)

Wrexham have had a month to forget, with only picking up one win out of their last 5 matches that being against Bromley at the start of November. With their defeat against Ebbsfleet on Saturday, Wrexham fell to the bottom of the Vanarama National League for the first time, this is the lowest that they have been in their history of the club. Like Eastleigh, Wrexham have some hope with injury returns from players such as JJ Hooper and Mark Carrington who could make an experience. However Manny Smith, Tyler Reid and Adam Burton will be side-lined for tonight’s game. A win tonight for Wrexham would see them get lifted out of the relegation zone into safer waters ready for their next game on Saturday.
